Dance for all

Publié le par TinkerDel

Dance 4 all. A social project born 16 years ago. A prima ballerina in Capetown. Her husband. The will to help children in the townships go away from violence. A concept: giving them, on a voluntary basis, ballet classes. For the most talented, giving them scolarships and training them every day. 10 years after... The project has grown, the children have grown up, and have become professionnal dancers. One of them is gone to London, before coming back home and giving back what he had learnt. The dance company was grounded in 2005. A dream coming into reality for Phillis and Philip, the two founders of this incredibly generous and courageous project.

In association with ZDF and Arte, a documentary film has been done about the project, focused on the personnality of both the directors and the dancers, about the living conditions the kids try to escape from with dance, about the success and the sriousness of the company, but also about the difficulties encountered to make the kids realize what a chance in life Dance for all give them.
A film full of sensibility, but also showing the tough reality of townships. And the maturity of the young dancers, all of them having to cope with hard lives.
A beautiful testimony about an association that I had discovered thanks to an article in Le Monde 2 4 years ago, and that I have since then admired.

The film has just been released in Germany, not yet in France..

And if you want, you can help the project, financially or materially
