One year after, we must give in that Gil Roman was maybe not strong enough to become the heir of éjart. Not from an artistical point of view. From the management side. This was though a huge challenge, since the company was carried throughout by the name of Béjart, however, he seems, like many of the directors that follow big names, to be failing in that. Indeed, no tour in planned in france for 2009 as far as I know. It's like a company who died with its Father.
And again, this raises the problem of the Artistic Director/Manager.. Which is to me the core problem with any dance company. An artist does not have the skills to manage a company. Neither Gil Roman, nor anyone, even Béjart. But he, has the name. Gill Roman has only proved to be an extraordinary dancer...
