Lucia Lacarra - One of the greatest ballerina of nowadays
Photo: HöslLucia Lacarra, the spanish ballerina, has everything a ballerina could possibly dream of. She is tall, she is thin, she has incredible legs, she is beautiful. she is extremely flexible, and turned out, and has an extraordinary cou-de-pied. Her technic is absolutely pure, and she has an amazing artistic sensibility. When I first saw her dance, I was amazed by her. It was years ago, but nothing has changed. And she is principal at the Bayerische Staatsoper in Munich. When I found that out, I instantly bought tickets for a performance.
Lucky was I, they were showing Swan Lake at the time, and it is always a good ballet to judge of the quality of a Corps de Ballet. And the Bayerische Staatsoper have great opportunities for students. For 10€, I got a ticket in the parterre.

So here I was, excited to finally see Lucia Lacarra for real. When she appeared, had I not known it was her, I would have known straigth. She is so much above everyone else. She has a presence and a charism on stage that I could not explain. She was entirely emboddying the figure of the swan, perfectly switching from the innocence of the white swan and the suplicity of the black swan.
Technically, she was absolutely perfect. I think that as far as I can remember, I had never seen such a perfect performance, from the beginning to the end. All her turns, balances, etc were absolutely right. And all that with such an ease. A delight for the eyes. And artistically, she was splendid.
For me Lucia Lacarra is trully one of the best ballerina of our time. She reminds me of Sylvie Guillem. Or Dominique Khalfouni. And I am so lucky she is ballerina in Munich. I would advise anyone to go and see her once. At least in a life. Then you will know what ballet can be like. Can't wait for the next time I go to the Opera. This time for a more contemporary piece, I hope. Or for the Bayadère... But with Lucia Lacarra.
